Fast Forward

I have been such a bad blogger.  So much has happened and life had been so crazy that in the blink of an eye an entire school year has happened, life has turned upside down and inside out and now we are in the middle of summer all of the sudden!
I love, love, love this picture of Mary Elizabeth.  My Emme has grown up so much before my very eyes and I have embraced it and photographed it and have just had so much fun with it.  She is beautiful and sensitive and loving and I just adore her.
This year we tried something new.  Emme was part of the Star's Studio Competition Team.  We had three competitions and each one was a blast.  We made new friends and I think Emme has discovered "her thing".  It's kind of hard when all of your siblings are so much older than you and you're not doing any of the same stuff that they are, so I'm so glad we found her "thing".  She is so cute when she gets all done up in her costume and makeup. 
The last nine months have been full of changes for us.  We moved accross town and our household seems to be shrinking.  We're down to just me and 1 1/2 kids in the house now (and the dog, of course).  We're waiting to see about Jason's return to Pittsburgh in the fall, but for now I have my two bookends in the house.  It has made for an interesting dynamic.  Pretty relaxed and laid back.  After years of hectic hustle and bustle, it's kind of refreshing to have some down time...and sometimes kind of sad, too.  I knew the day would come when there would be a lot less activity in my house, fewer people, less chaos, but it still kind of crept up on me.  I'm still trying to get used to "the new normal".
Before I know it the school year will be upon us again, so, for now, I think I'll just drink in the lazy, hazy days of summer.
