Spring...

Spring means flowers and sunshine, some rain, longer days, etc., etc., right? Wrong. Spring means that it is time to go shopping for a 9th grade formal dress. UGH!!! Mallorie and I spent mother's day at the mall. We were looking for a dress for her 9th grade formal. Sounds like a great mother daughter experience, right? For the first hour and a half, maybe, but by the end of the day when she really needed to get to work and I still hadn't done the week's grocery shopping and she still hadn't found a dress that she love, it was no longer fun.

I'm sure we will find a dress and I'm sure she will look beautiful for her formal, but by the end of Sunday I really didn't care if she went in a burlap sack.

Spring also brings the annual Copper Beech Spring Fair. This event is always held the day before Mother's day. This year it means that I received two goldfish from the fair as a mother's day give (Mallorie and Hannah both had the same idea and both walked in the door so proud of themselves). Tucker has been watching the fish tank and I am suspicious that he is eyeing up what he believes to be fresh sushi.

The weekend was actually quite good as we have almost completed the first of the bedroom makeover/reassignments and Jason, to my surprise, ended up making me a lovely Mother's Day dinner -- cooked a roast with potatoes and carrots and even had an ice cream cake. All in all, a good day.

Update

Just looked at my blog and noticed that I have not been keeping up. So much has been going on around our house, that it really isn't any wonder, I suppose.
I have been engrossed in a yard and home revitalization project lately. Last weekend I dug two new flowerbeds and refrehsed an existing flower bed that I've not planted anything in since moving in to our house. This weekend some trees came down and there was more yard cleanup in the back yard. I have some more planting to do (including some grass) and, most likely, more digging as well.
Along with the yard, we are moving people around in the house. We're having a Chinese firedrill of sorts with the bedrooms and everyone will be moving in to a new room over the next few weeks. This involves the much needed purging of the rooms, painting, moving, etc., etc., etc. In some ways it will be like moving in to a whole new house, without having to pack up the basement and rent a truck.
In the long run it will all be wonderful, but over the last few weeks it has just been mahem.
In the midst of all of this, we have celebrated Mary Elizabeth's third birthday (three times). We've had much cake and ice cream and, since we haven't celebrated with any of the grandparents yet, I think there is more confection in my future. Actually, even Mary Elizabeth is letting people know it isn't her birthday anymore. Sad when a three year old has had too much birthday celebration.
The kids are winding down the school year -- term papers, projects, school trips.
Mallorie has the Ninth Grade Formal coming up, as well as the class trip to Dorney Park.
Hannah has 6th Grade Graduation and one or two class trips as well.
Jason has a term paper. I don't think they make a big deal about the end of 10th grade.
Oh well, that seems to be our life in a nutshell for right now. Starting to look forward to the end of the school year! Perhaps things will slow down a tad.
