Profundity
I picked up a new date book -- actually it is "The 2007 Philadelphia Date Book" which lists all the events in Philadelphia for 2007, important numbers, etc., etc., and, as an added bonus, gives you a quote or saying each week -- I have found many of them so far to be rather profound and now refer to them as the weekly profundity. I have been very good and have not skipped ahead to read all 52 for the year -- I've decided I want to be inspired each week with a new profundity. I have found two so far that have really touched me:
"Until you value yourself, you won't value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it." M. Scott Peck
"I will permit no man to narrow or degrade my soul by making me hate him." Booker T. Washington.
These actually go together, in my opinion. See, once you value yourself and value your time, you come to the conclusion that hate wastes way too much time and energy. Although trite, it is still my unending plea (especially in a house with four children) "Can't we all just get along?"
