Speed Racer

Saturday Nicky and I took the little kids, plus Hannah, to the Baby and Toddler Expo at the Fort Washington Expo center. We entered Mary Elizabeth in the crawling races -- she's only been crawling for a few weeks, and she really made a pretty good showing. Food motivated that she is, she crawled to the finish line in pursuit of a strawberry/banana cereal bar and crossed the line third; however, the little boy that crossed the line second stood up part way through the race and, in my opinion, was disqualified, making her the odds on second place winner!!!
Obviously, all of this was a bit much and she decided to take a nap mid way through her first course of string cheese while I was fixing her dinner.

That's too funny that "ME" was in a crawling contest! The 2nd place kid should've definitely been disqualified. Unfortunately we live in such a PC world that we allow kids to cheat rather than correct them. No fair!
I'm not down with the "everybody is a winner philosophy" - kids need to know the truth - there are winners and losers and if you cheat you get disqualified.
I will now dismount from my soapbox.

Sorry, Erin -- my kitchen and living room have been being painted this week and I had to (Gasp!!!) unplug my computer for a couple of days. When I get home tonight I am going to try to set my computer back up so I can post the "First Birthday" blog for this week.
